Ham & Cheese Slider Sandwiches

Ham & Cheese Slider Sandwiches

Current favorite sandwich in our house. It has been requested several weeks in a row and they aren't tired of it yet.

It makes 24 small sandwiches that are great for afternoon snacks for teenage boys and when you need to grab something on-the-go.

Ingredients

  • 24 Sweet Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 lb Honey ham slices from the deli
  • 1 6oz package of Swiss cheese slices (10 slices)
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise

Poppy seed sauce

  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Space the bottom and sides of a glass 9x13" baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. Slice rolls lengthwise with a large serrated knife.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of the rolls, top and bottom. Place slices of ham and then slices of Swiss on the bottom half of the rolls. Close rolls and place them into the large baking dish.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Brush mixture onto all of the sandwiches. You do not have to use all of the sauce! Just use enough to cover the tops. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until cheese melts. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops of the rolls are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.
  6. Note: Sandwiches can be assembled ahead of time. I don't like to do it more than a day ahead because they can get soggy from the mayo mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
