New Year's Pork

Start the New Year with a meal for good luck. Pigs root for their food in a forward motion, which symbolizes progress. We all want to start the new year making progress, so pork is the perfect main dish!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb pork loin
  • Garlic salt
  • 2 Tbsp margarine
  • 1-1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle garlic salt on all sides of the pork loin.
  2. Melt margarine in a heavy pan just big enough to fit the pork loin.
  3. Brown the pork loin on all sides in the pan.
  4. After all sides of the loin are browned, add milk to the pan and cover.
  5. Cook on medium-low for a couple of hours, turning the loin about every 30 minutes, until the meat is tender but not falling apart.
  6. Cut the pork into slices and season with garlic salt.
  7. For additional good luck, add sauerkraut as a side dish.
