How County Line Meats Got Started – Part 2

County Line Meats is a family business.

Our three boys are very active on the farm and have been since they were little. They spend weekends and breaks from school helping with crops and cattle. They start out by opening gates and riding along. As they get older, they learn to drive tractors and operate implements.

Nathan is studying Livestock Production & Management with a focus on Beef at THE Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute.

Calvin and Blaine are students in the Teays Valley School District.

All 3 boys are active in 4H and take livestock projects and are very involved with the farm. Most weekends and breaks, they are at the farm helping with the daily work.

A primary goal for Mike transitioning to work on farm in 2006 was to bridge the gap between my parent's generation and the next generation. We want the farm to be a viable option for the boys, if they choose to be in production agriculture. Time will tell if they choose to be part of the operation or another path.
